How do I set dual monitor configuration up?

I own a laptop and a monitor. Right now, the monitors "match." Instead, I'd similar to to be able to drag files from one peak to the other, like a wide-screen. (To compare two Excel documents.) Help! Thanks.

I do it beside my laptop all the time. Hook the monitor up to the video port. Then right click on a blank piece of the desktop, go to PROPERTIES. In the display properties dialog box that open, go to the SETTINGS tab. There you will promising see a shaded box with two other boxes surrounded by it a 1 and a 2. Click on 2. Then go toward the bottom where on earth it says "Extend my window desktop to this monitor" and check the box. Then click OK. You should be able to do it if you own a decent video card.
This works fine on a desktop. On a laptop you hold no way to install a second video card, and specifically needed to have a two monitor setup
I dont ruminate that feature is available unless you hold two video cards. you have the remedy of connecting a monitor so it displays the same similes, but it wont extend the image on the 2nd monitor.



What you can do is buy a USB to VGA adapter and that would allow you to extent your desktop onto the second monitor. You can buy one from www.cablestogo.com
for dual monitors inevitability a video card or device that supports dual monitors, if you connect the monitor to your laptop the only piece your gonna see is the same desktop

You can also click and drag the monitors to position them how you hold yours to make things more intuative when moving your mouse cursor between the two of them.
