Answer:
Contrast Ratio: A benchmark of how much white shows up brighter than black.
E.g.: 700:1, a bigger ratio is better
Response Time: A measure of how long it take for a screen to adapt from one complete frame, to the next complete frame.
E.g.: 8ms, lower number is better
Viewing Angle: From what angles will you be capable of see a clear picture.
E.g.: 140/140, horizontal/vertical ... closer to 180 is better
Brightness: A measure of how bright your eyeshade can get
E.g.: 300 cd/m2, bigger number is brighter which usually channel better although I know people who hurt their eyes looking at screen that are too bright in a dark-lit room (have a desk oil lamp handy)
Resolution: How much screen space you gain.
E.g.: 1280x1024, some people approaching widescreen, some people don't, some individuals like huge spaces, some people don't
After that, any other features are pretty much gravy.
E.g.: Multiple setting presets, built-in speakers, DVI input, button-less design, 90 scope screen tilting, built surrounded by web-cam, etc.
A note give or take a few warranties ... no manufacturer will ever guarantee their LCD's for zero inert pixels. The only one that comes close is ASUS, who guarantees for nil bright pixels (the opposite of comatose pixels).
Dead pixels most of all... check for any 'fuzziness' or blurriness.
