How do you set Windows XP Pro for a Widescreen Moniter?

I tried playing around contained by Control Panel...display....but it still looked off

Answer:

Learn what the home-grown resolution of the monitor is. Non widescreen might be something like 1280 x 1024, but a widescreen might be 1280 x 800. Once you know what the home-grown resolution is, see if you can set it to that in the control panel. If required look for your model screen on the manufacturer's website.
on the monitor adjust rise and width till it looks right
Right click on your desktop afterwards select 'properties' then click on the 'settings' tab. You can ajust your res to widescreen mode
See if there's an installation cd that come with your monitor. If not, find the manufacturer's website for any drivers you may call for.
