i agree beside Heinz you should remove the video card clean the contacts and reseat it if it does not remedy the situation it may be defective
Do you own it pluged into a computer? cause you one and only usually get that when it's not plug'd into a tower
If you hold a bad video card, you'll acquire this same error message.
turn the monitor on & off

it works for me when i do that.
you are surrounded by te two cases as follow:

-your PC didn't work

- problem with the cable of the monitor

In 1st armour , please consider if the pc working or not , checking the HDD lead flashing or not, checking the keyboard working or not. So that you can know your PC still works or died.If you can find an other monitor , you can find out the problem suddenly.
